The Salt River Wild Horse Management Group which has compiled over 50 testimonials from eyewitnesses who remember seeing unbranded free-roaming horses on. There have been some changes regarding where to find them since the spring of 2019. Research suggests that the wild horses are descendants of Spanish horses brought to Arizona in the 17th century by Spanish missionary Father Eusebio Kino. They roam the area between the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Reservation Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and into Tonto National Forest.
